TMTA Strengthens Public-Private Collaboration to Promote Thailand’s Halal Industry on the Global Stage
On July 23, 2025, the Thai-Muslim Trade Association (TMTA), led by President Mr. Marut Mekloy, paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Nalinee Taveesin, Thailand Trade Representative, at Government House to discuss strategic collaboration between the public and private sectors. The meeting focused on enhancing the Thai halal industry and positioning Thailand as a global hub for Muslim-friendly tourism and services.
Also in attendance were Mr. Phasakorn Chairat, Director of the Office of Industrial Economics, and Ms. Yuwapa Jaiboon, Acting Director of the National Food Institute under the Ministry of Industry, alongside other key stakeholders.
The discussion highlighted several key initiatives:
* TMTA’s active role as a member of the **Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development (ICCD)**
* Thailand’s potential to become the **"Halal Kitchen of the World"**
* The importance of establishing a **Global Muslim-Friendly Hospitality Index** to elevate the Thai tourism sector
* Plans to host the **ICCD Reception in Bangkok**, bringing together over 60 high-level policy and business leaders
* Support for Thai halal businesses to explore international markets, including participation in the **Thailand International Mega Fair 2025** in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia this December
* Upcoming **domestic halal promotion events**, such as "Halal Mahanakhon" at Seacon Square Srinagarindra this November
* Joint efforts to position Thailand’s food and tourism industries as key **soft power assets**
Dr. Nalinee praised TMTA’s proactive role in connecting Thai halal entrepreneurs with global networks, particularly through its leadership within the ICCD, recognizing the association as a vital force in advancing Thailand’s presence in the global halal economy.
